Bio

Robert "Bobby" McNiel represents clients in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Bobby has broad and extensive experience trying cases involving fraud, defamation, breach of contract, negligence and breach of fiduciary duty.

Bobby focuses a considerable percentage of his practice on construction disputes. Bobby has a broad base of construction clients including developers, general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers. Though he is normally retained to handle commercial or multi-family construction lawsuits, it is not unusual for Bobby to represent owners or developers in complex, high value residential cases.

After a week-long jury trial in 2020, Bobby secured a "take nothing" defense verdict on behalf of a Texas County Commissioner sued for an alleged defamatory campaign flyer.

In 2022, Bobby successfully represented Dallas developer The Tower Group, Inc. and obtained a dismissal of all claims asserted against his client in an arbitration proceeding pending before the American Arbitration Association.

In another recent construction case, in 2022, Bobby successfully represented a Dallas developer and secured a very favorable settlement for costs to complete/repair multiple homes plagued with roofing, and framing defects.

Prior to joining Calhoun Bhella and Sechrest, Bobby practiced at a large regional firm in Dallas, and an international firm, where he handled a variety of cases including land title disputes, mortgage fraud, real estate fraud, construction defects, payment and performance bond cases, and employment disputes.
