Bio

Erica Conklin Baines is an experienced litigator with trial practice experience in the state and federal courts of Florida, Illinois and Missouri. She focuses her practice on business and complex commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, real property litigation, business torts, employment litigation, and trust and probate litigation. Erica has been recognized in Super Lawyers magazine as a “Rising Star” (2013 – 2015), and is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubble.  In 2019 she was inducted into the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society for the top 1% of American lawyers.

Erica began her law career with a boutique litigation firm in St. Louis, Missouri, where her practice was concentrated in complex commercial litigation and consumer class action litigation. In 2008, Erica relocated to Naples, Florida and joined a national law firm where her practice focused on complex commercial and business litigation, employment litigation, and trust litigation.  In 2015, Erica relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to join Tanner Bishop, now Bishop & Mills, to continue her practice, focusing on complex commercial litigation and trust and probate litigation.

Erica is admitted to practice in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  Erica has also tried a case before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Erica is a member of the Florida Bar, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association, and the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. While practicing in Naples, Erica was very active in the local bar associations, serving in officer positions for both the Collier County Women’s Bar Association and the Collier County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. Erica was also a member of the Thomas S. Biggs American Inns of Court.

Erica earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2005. Throughout her career, Erica has given back to the community through pro bono representation, serving as a Guardian ad Litem and pro bono Attorney ad Litem for children in foster homes. Erica also served on the Board of Directors for the Next Generation Committee of the Shelter for Abused Women and Children.
