Bio

Finkel received his BA Degree from NYU College of Arts & Sciences in 1962 and his JD Degree from the University of SC in 1970. Upon graduation from law school he co-founded the Finkel Law Firm, LLC, which currently has offices in Columbia and Charleston SC.

Mr. Finkel is a member of the SC Bar and the DC Bar. He has served in the SC Bar's House of Delegates and as a member of the Board of Governors. and is a member of the Executive Council of the Senior Lawyers Division of the SC Bar. He is a past President of the SC Trial Lawyer's Association (n/k/a the SCAAJ).

Mr. Finkel has been appointed as a Special Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit, has served as a Hearing Officer for the SC Department of Health & Environmental Control and the SC Department of Insurance. He is also a Certified Circuit Court Arbitrator. He was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of South Carolina from 1972-2006. In 2006 he was appointed as a Professor of Law to the faculty of the Charleston School of Law where he served until 2016. He currently teaches there part time as a Professor Emeritus. He is a Sustaining Life Member of the American Law Institute, a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, and is a Fellow of the SC Bar Foundation.

Mr. Finkel has been listed in all editions of the Best Lawyers in America since its inaugural publication in 1983 and is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
